Stay Golden

Golden Globes Fashion

I'll be honest, I don't really care too much about who wins what award, I mostly just care about the fashion. These dresses are works of art. I love the different colors, textures, and silhouettes. To start the overview of the dresses I either liked the best or found the most interesting, we'll start with Zoey Deschenal. This Oscar de la Renta ensemble was ethereal. It might not be my favorite silloute, but lovely nonetheless. Really though, it was her shoes that charmed me.

Continue reading to see some of my favorites!

Lupita Nyongo, the star from 12 Years a Slave, stole the night in this gorgeous Ralph Lauren red sheath dress completed with a cape.

Jennifer Lawrence, star in American Hustle, wore a sweeping white Dior gown to the Golden Globes. It has gotten mixed reviews, and the most widely spread comparison has been to Disney princess Ariel's sheet dress. What do you think? I have mixed feelings on the second black band. But, mixed feelings on the dress aside, she looks amazing! Her emerald earrings are the perfect pop of color. Whether she hit or missed on the dress, she is still the darling of the red carpet. Who else would crack us up by photo bombing Taylor Swift?

Julianna Margulies, the star of The Good Wife, looks classy and fabulous in this black and gold number by Andrew GN.

Emma Watson took a risk with this backless dress with hidden pants created by the French fashion house Christian Dior, and I think it paid off! She looks awesome. And she probably was more comfortable too.

Julia Roberts did something interesting here in this menswear inspired dress by Dolce and Gabbana. I don't know if I'm a fan of the button down under the dress, but I do appreciate that she looks classy and age appropriate. I know that I am not a fan of classy women trying to look like teenagers. What do you think? Yay or nay?

And speaking of classy women, Edie Falco from Nurse Jackie, looks absolutely festive in this red satin Lavin gown with the bow. I've heard mixed reviews on this dress, but what can I say? I love bows. And ruffles. And beading. I am total girl.

Allison Williams, from the TV show Girls, looks stunning in this striped Alexander McQueen dress. I am almost always a fan of stripes, and she pulled them off well. The sillouette is fabulous. I love the intense eye makeup as well.

Michelle Dockery from Dowton Abby looks lovely in her ethereal, embellished dress by Oscar de la Renta. The beading on this dress is stunning.

Tarissa Farminga, from American Horror Story, took a risk wearing a short dress, but I really like it! I like the texture, and the sleeves of this cream Elie Saad frock are classy. Her delicate sandals are Stuart Weitzman. What do you think? Is the short dress too casual, or does she make it work?

Guiliana Rancic, the E! News Host, looked lovely in her Lorena Sarbu dress. I love the plum color, the sheer neckline, and the princess silhouette. Her hair and makeup look good too. This picture reminds me why I like short hair.

Emma Roberts, from American Horror Story, perhaps taking a page from her aunt, looked very classy in her black Lavin gown and Neil Lane earrings. The neckline is interesting and the shape is flattering.

Tatiana Maslany, from Orphan Black, sparkled in  silver. Her  shimmery pleated dress is lovely. I cannot pull off silver, sadly, and this dress makes me wish I could.

Taylor Swift pulled off the fuchsia color-block dress by Carolina Herrera, making it look both fun and flattering.

There were hundreds of well dressed ladies, and gentlemen for that matter, (although I am more interested in dresses!) that attended the Golden Globes. I just thought I'd pick my favorites for your viewing pleasure.

I will say this,  I would adore to have the chance to wear a dress like one of these. However, I think I would absolutely hate being famous, (people taking pictures of me at the grocery store?! Ew.) so I don't think I'd actually trade places with these women. Well... maybe just for a night.

I hope your weekends are fabulous and your week is off to a great start, Brave Ones! Cheers to getting things done, and making things happen.

Much love,
xo The Attic
