Food For Thought

Hello Brave Ones! Since I am an advocate for life long learning, and I love a good book full of ideas to chew on, I thought I'd share a few morsels for a Wednesday snack.

I am in the middle of reading this book and it is really interesting... I can't say that I agree with all of Ayn Rand's philosophy, but she definitely provides food for thought!

"If you don't know, the thing to do is not get scared, but to learn." - Ayn Rand

This poem is short and lovely. Whitman compares a spider looking for somewhere to cast its web to our souls looking for somewhere to anchor. I've never been a big spider fan, but this poem makes me at least slightly appreciate those little guys.

This is my prayer for my fiance:

"Blessed is one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or who sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on it day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yield fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither-- whatever they do prospers." Psalm 1:1-3

What a wonderful image- to be a tree planted by streams of water!

And lastly, a quote that will inspire you to set sail and go after your dreams! You might have to take it one step at a time (like my dream of writing translates to freelance writing and blogging...) But go after it. You can do it. Be brave!

"Twenty years from now, you will be more dissapointed by the things you didn't do than by the things you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
-Mark Twain

What makes you think brave ones? Have you read any good books recently?

ps. photo credits: Atlas shrugged picture is the cover of the book. The screen shot of the poem can be found at the linked website. The tree is a picture taken by me at Cameron Park and the picture of ship was taken by Allison Ashman.
